Manchester United sells first team players

Erik ten Hag was officially appointed as the new manager of Manchester United on Thursday, 21 April 2022. The Dutch coach will leave his position at Ajax to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

Rangnick recently claimed significant changes will be made to the United squad this summer. The German tactician stated that as many as 10 players could leave Old Trafford.

However, ESPN via the Daily Mirror reports that Man Utd officials have told Ten Hag a reshuffle will not be necessary this summer. The Red Devils seek evolution rather than revolution.

Despite reports suggesting Erik ten Hag will be given a budget of £200m, ESPN added he would initially accept a budget of between £100m and £150m. The money is for shopping for new recruits.

This amount can be increased to 230 million pounds or around Rp 4.2 trillion. However, Man Utd first sold a number of players in the first team.

Anthony Martial, Alex Telles, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones have all allegedly been put up for sale. The Red Devils can get around 80 million pounds if they sell these five players.

Erik ten Hag already has a list of players he will recruit to join Manchester United. One of them is Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong played under Ten Hag for two years for Ajax. The 24-year-old developed into one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe during that time.

In addition, De Jong was part of the Ten Hag squad as Ajax advanced to the 2019 Champions League semifinals. He also won the Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup in the same year with the 52-year-old strategist.

According to, Barcelona will listen to offers for De Jong. The Dutch national team player is estimated to be worth over 72 million pounds or around Rp. 1.32 trillion.

The report also says United are considering options to offer Alex Telles and Marcus Rashfod to Barcelona. Both players will be involved in a deal to bring De Jong to the Premier League to save costs.

Erik ten Hag also wants to bring his two foster children at Ajax to Manchester United. The two players are centre-back Jurrien Timber and striker Anthony.

Other players on MU’s radar are West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. To get Nunez, the Red Devils will compete with other English clubs Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Sun, Nunez prefers to join Liverpool. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano estimates the price is 75-80 million euros.

Meanwhile, for Declan Rice, Man Utd got a rival from Chelsea. However, West Ham also continues to try to contain the star player
